The property would be ideal as a main residence, weekend bolthole or a holiday retreat. It is the perfect “lock up and go” low maintenance property. The property benefits from electric heating, double glazing and two separate phone lines making it ideal to work from home.
The property comprises a compact fitted kitchen with wall and base units, a spacious but cosy sittingroom featuring a cast iron multi fuel stove, useful storage cupboard and views towards the Station Square. The cottage has two good sized bedrooms, one with original ornate fireplace and the other has access to the loft area via a Ramsay ladder. The loft area is another particularly useful storage space. An ample sized bathroom consisting of bath with overhead shower, toilet and sink completes the accommodation on offer.
Historical Information: The Property forms part of a “C” listed building, steeped in history and originally built to house the station master and staff working at Aboyne Station. Village life centred around Station Square which was a hive of activity for local commerce. The building was commissioned by William Cunliffe Brooks, the owner of Glentanar Estate at the time who was a notable English Barrister and Conservative MP. His initials “WCB” can be found in the stonework on the building. The properties were built in similar style to those of the Glentanar Estate with the distinctive red roof tiles and wooden finishings within the property which most certainly came from the estate’s abundant timber supplies.
Location Aboyne is situated in Deeside and is approximately 30 miles from Aberdeen making it within easy commuting distance to Westhill, Kingswells and beyond. There are a number of unique shops, restaurants and other facilities in the village including a health centre, Primary School, Secondary School with community centre and swimming pool and leisure facilities all under one roof including a theatre and cinema. There is an excellent 18 hole golf course in the village, all weather tennis courts, bowling green and a number of outdoor pursuits available in the locale including horse riding, fishing, shooting, gliding, water ski-ing, canoeing and ski-ing at Glenshee and the Lecht. Aboyne Castle and the nearby Glentanar Estate are popular destinations for walking and observing the unique wildlife in Deeside. The village is renowned for its annual Highland Games known as the “Traditional Highland Games” dating back to 1867 along with other more modern annual events such as the Aboyne and Deeside Festival bringing together different genres of music and arts for all to enjoy.
